Weekly Rewind: 3/24 – 3/30/19

Time has flown by as we’re nearly a quarter of the way through 2019 already! There hasn’t been a lot of buzz in the gaming industry this week so it’s definitely possible you might of missed some of the news floating around this week. Here’s your Weekly Rewind, so let’s jump in!

Borderlands 3 was announced

In what was probably some of the biggest news of the week, Gearbox finally pulled back the curtain on the long-awaited Borderlands 3, via a developer trailer that was shown off at PAX East this year. The game looks to be as crazy as ever, and is boasting to have over 1 BILLION weapons, which is insane to say the least. Though no release date was formally announced, gaming sleuths have combed through the nearly four minute long trailer and found numbers on the side of buildings, which might indicate that the game is aiming for a release date of October 1st. If that’s the case, it shouldn’t be much longer until we find out more about it. You can watch the trailer in the link below.

Valve is releasing their own VR headset this May

In what was a pretty quiet announcement, Valve Corporation is releasing their own VR headset this May. Not much is known about the headset aside from its release date and an image of it that was shown on a Steam product page. Valve has proven to be a fan of VR technology, and they have 3 VR games in the works at the moment. More news is expected to come out as we get closer to May and see a new competitor enter the VR space. You can read more about it by clicking on the link to the Kotaku article below.

CD Projekt Red promises E3 2019 to be its biggest ever

CD Projekt Red, the company behind the widely acclaimed Witcher games, has gone on the record saying that this years E3 was going to be their biggest and most important E3 ever, even stating that they are planning a big surprise for their E3 presentation. During a financial results presentation for the 2018 fiscal year, CD Projekt Red CEO Adam Kiciński stated that “last year’s E3 has been the most important one so far throughout the whole CD Projekt history. But this year’s is going to be the most important one ever for us. We have really prepared a strong show.”

What this could mean is anyone’s guess, but gamers who are looking forward to the highly-anticipated Cyberpunk 2077 should be incredibly excited. Could we see another gameplay demo of Cyberpunk 2077 which stole the show at E3 last year or maybe even get a release date? Maybe we’ll get a glimpse of the other AAA game that they’ve been working on in secret. Only time will tell, but with E3 around the corner, it doesn’t look like we’ll have to wait very long to find out. You can read more about it in the article from IGN below.
