Weekly Rewind: 4/14 – 4/20/19

This has been a fairly eventful week in the gaming industry as Xbox held their Inside Xbox episode on Tuesday and on the same day, Sony revealed the specs for their next console. While those were some of the bigger headlines in the news, here are some of the other headlines you might have missed this week.

Mortal Kombat 11 DLC characters leaked

According to a thread on the ResetEra forums, a user posted that they had datamined the Switch version of Mortal Kombat 11 and found the list of DLC characters coming to the game in the future. Because the list might be viewed as spoilers for some people, we won’t reveal the characters. Apex Legends is losing momentum

The huge launch success of Apex Legends seems to be dying down as the Twitch viewership for the game has been been sharply declining as of late while Fornite’s has held steady. While Apex was undoubtedly a hit for Respawn, the lack of content and appeal to a broad audience like Fornite does has caused a player decline for a little more than a week now. It remains to be seen if Respawn will reevaluate it’s post-launch strategy as it tries to regain it’s footing a bit. You can read more about it in the link below.

Cuphead launched on Nintendo Switch

The relationship between Xbox and Nintendo became little bit closer as Cuphead launched on the Switch this week. While Minecraft is owned by Microsoft and is accessible on a wide array of devices, Cuphead marks the first Xbox/PC exclusive game to launch on another console. Since the announcement of xCloud back in 2018, Xbox head Phil Spencer has stated that he wants Xbox on every device and have it accessible to everyone. With Xbox Live launching coming to Cuphead on the Switch as a post-launch update, it looks like Microsoft is one step closer to doing that.

GTA 6 might be in the works

According to the résumé of a former artist at Rockstar India, GTA 6 looks to be in the works. While it would be no surprise if Rockstar is in fact working on the next GTA game, this rumor should be taken with a grain of salt since the game has yet to be officially confirmed by Rockstar. With Rockstar being known for taking its time with developing games, it likely will be some time before there is any official confirmation of the game. You can read more about it in the link below.
